Saturday 28th January – 6pm – £5 tickets
Join us for a 1 hour talk by seasoned climber and Lattice Training coach, Maddy Cope, exploring the foundations of the menstrual cycle; from the hormones and physiology through to how these may interact with our climbing and training.
Together, we will dive into the research that is being done to better inform us when it comes to the menstrual cycle. We will explore the individual nature of the menstrual cycle and how we might adapt and structure our training to feel our best.
We will look at the process of understanding our personal experience with the aim of feeling empowered to make decisions that are right for us when it comes to the menstrual cycle.
This talk will be of interest to climbers and coaches of all ages, and at all stages of their journey. There will be the opportunity for a Q&A at the end of the talk.
Madelaine Cope has been a climber herself for 15 years, with a particular focus on trad and multi-pitch climbing. She has climbed Freerider on El Cap, Prinzip Hoffnung E9 in Austria and has climbed two 8cs – Bat Route and Mind Control. Her future goals are to climb a First Ascent on a Big Wall, improve her crack-climbing, and climb an 8c+ route.
Maddy says “I love the way in which climbing has led me to challenge myself, build trust in my abilities, work closely in a community and learn more about my mind and body. Through my work I have become passionate about the menstrual cycle and how by understanding and considering the menstrual cycle we may be able to add a further layer of understanding our bodies and use this information to shape our climbing and optimise our experience.”
